Volkswagen Video Series

I worked with Volkswagen of America to revamp their internal series of videos detailing their CPO program. It was a project that had me animating 23 videos across multiple design styles, including motion graphics, 2D, and 3D animation. The project took over a year and resulted in over 100 minutes of animation. It was a ton of work but I’m so happy with the results.

My official roles in the project had me working as the creative director, designer, animator, and audio engineer. I was their one-stop-shop in bringing this large video project to life.

I worked with their team to develop a consistent style that could be rolled out across a wide range of topics, and that reflected the polished professionalism that comes with the Volkswagen brand. It was a project that was challenging but also very rewarding, and this short real showcases some of the flashier pieces I created across the series.

In the end it had me building out 3D renders of half a dozen Volkswagen vehicles and deploying them in a variety of scenes and scenarios. This included lighting, texturing, and animating the vehicles in a way that not only looked realistic but also blended within the larger 2D style of the videos.

The client allowed me pretty much full autonomy in developing the look and feel of the videos (which is rare) and it allowed me to take full control of the design process and find ways to make what would normally be boring internal videos and make them visually fun and engaging.
